A Movie Based on True Story That Inspired Me.

To be honest, I do not really remember which movie that  I had watched before is a based on true story. Cause I am not so a movie freak! I keep on thinking days and night what to write here until one day my cousin texted me "Let's go & watch In the Heart of the Sea at cinema!" I am expecting this kind of based on true story movie will inspired me in various ways and make me realize value of life.

And yeah as expected, I earn a lot of moral values that can be applied in our daily life. Very inspiring movie, I tell you. Before that, I would glad to share synopsis about this movie. Special for you guys ;)

In the Heart of the Sea is an American biographical adventure thriller film, based on the sinking of an American whaling ship Essex in 1820. In 1850, author Herman Melville visits innkeeper Thomas Nickerson, the last survivor of the whaleship Essex's last voyage, offering money in return for his story. Nickerson initially refuses, but finally agrees when his wife intervenes. The story turns to 1820: a whaling company has refitted the Essex to participate in the lucrative whale oil trade, and 14-year-old Nickerson signs on as a cabin boy. The owners hire veteran whaler Owen Chase as first mate, though he is disappointed not to receive a captain's commission. The captain is George Pollard, an inexperienced mariner from an established whaling family who envies Chase's skill and popularity. Chase and Pollard clash, leading Pollard to sail into a storm against Chase's advice, nearly sinking the ship. The two agree to put their differences aside rather than risking their reputations by returning to port without profit, and soon, the crew kills their first whale.

However, three months pass with no further successes, and Pollard realizes that the Atlantic is fished out. The Essex sails for the Pacific hoping for better luck. In Ecuador, the officers meet a Spanish captain who tells them his crew found the bountiful "Offshore Grounds" 2,000 miles to the west, but claims that a vengeful "white whale" destroyed his ship. Enthralled by the prospect, and disbelieving of the white whale story, Pollard and Chase lead the expedition west. They find the undisturbed grounds, but when they launch the whaling boats, the white whale, a massive bull sperm whale, attacks, damaging the boats and turning on the ship. Chase harpoons it from the Essex's deck, but the whale stoves the ship, killing two men. The crew abandons the Essex on the three intact whaling boats, and must sail hundreds of miles to shore on very limited supplies. The whale follows and attacks again, but they escape to the tiny Henderson Island. While gathering food, Chase discovers the corpses of earlier castaways, and concludes that the crew will die before another ship passes by. Four men decide to stay, while the rest set sail again on the boats. Soon after, one of the men dies, and the remaining crew reluctantly decide to cannibalize him.

The elderly Nickerson is overcome by emotion and stops his story. However, when his wife comforts him, he feels encouraged enough to finish. Back in the 1820s, the three boats separate and one is lost. The other two further resort to cannibalism to survive, with Pollard's cousin sacrificing himself. The whale returns, but Chase decides not to attack and it leaves forever. A passing ship rescues Pollard's boat, but Chase's boat continues to drift with no food or water. Finally, with the survivors on the verge of death, they reach land. The survivors return to Nantucket and their families. The ship's owners ask Pollard and Chase to cover up the story to protect the industry, but after Chase refuses to go along, Pollard reveals the truth in the inquiry. Nickerson relates that Chase continued sailing and became a merchant captain, while Pollard led another expedition to kill the whale, but the ship wrecked and he was forced to retire.

Some moral values that I earned from this movie:

1. Do not make a promise if you cannot keep it.
The whaling company promised to make Owen Chase as the captain of the whaleship as it able to earn 1500 barrels of whale oil on the previous whale-hunting but they easily broke their promise and decided to make George Pollard as the captain. This is a really heartbreaking, and I am very allergy to someone who always break their promise. Do not make a promise you cannot keep and do not say something unless you mean it. Tell me, why it is so hard to keep a promise?

2. Listen to others' advice, they maybe expert than you in some cases.
Captain George Pollard refused to listen to Owen Chase, who have a lot of experiences than him just because Chase is only the first mate not the Captain. Thus, making the whale ship into a thunderstorm and nearly sinking the ship. In every matter, we need to consider others' opinion and advice. Do not be too arrogant. Listen to your elders' advice, not because they always right but because they have more experiences of being wrong.

3. Do not be too greedy.
The decision made by both Captain George Pollard and Owen Chase to hunt for more and more whale at 2000 miles from the west is totally a wrong decision. They never have been there before. They do not know what is actually happened. Greed is so destructive. It destroys almost everything. But somehow, I respect for their braveness.

4. We need to sacrifice something in order to survive.
After they sail away from Henderson Island, one of them died. At that time, they all have no more food supply. So, Owen Chase decide to cannibalize it. But all of them seem reluctant because that guy is one of the crew since ages. Come on, can you imagine you eat your own friend? But somehow, they need to sacrifice that guy in order to stay alive.

5. Be grateful.
Watching this movie, make me grateful for having enough food supplies and everything. Just imagine, they do not eat healthy foods like we do about 90 days. They only eat a piece of biscuit shared with 4-5 people. I repeat, A PIECE OF BISCUIT. Oh my godness, please guys do not wasting our foods. There are people out there who need it :'(

In a conclusion, you should watch this movie. I rank it 8/10 stars. Marine life is not as easy as expected. They faced a lot of obstacles, nearly sank into the deep sea, not having enough food supplies, thunderstorm and also being attacked by the whale or maybe shark. Let's appreciate mariners. And for me, I also will survive in whatever I do. Never give up!

How would your life be different if you find out that your parents are aliens?

I am alone at my house as my parents were gone to California about two months ago. I plan to show my cooking skills at the kitchen. Furthermore, I feel extremely hungry. My stomach keep on making "kriukkk kriuukkk" sound. Well, it is raining cats and dogs outside. It is the perfect time for me to hibernate! Eat and sleep and eat again and sleep again. But suddenly, I see something land at my backyard. It makes a very noisy sound. Curiosity is killing me, so I head to that thing nearer and near and near. The blazing light produces by that thing really irritate my eyes. I cannot open anymore my beautiful hazel eyes. I move my step forward even though I closed my eyes. One step... Two step... I try very hard to open my eyes. All I can see at that time was a ship, but not really a ship. It looks like a disc-shaped ship. I think I have met this kind of ship but I could not really remember where did I met it. My brain keep on loading and trying so hard to remember what is that thing. And finally............. I remember! That things look like a UFO! Oh my god! UFO? Aliens? Really? Is this a dream? *slapping my face a few times*

Five minutes later, I see someone came down from that ship. When the two person come down, my jaw drop. I stop dead in my tracks. The two person that my eyes capture just now are my beloved parents. Even though they look quite different with their dress up, I still recognize my parents. Their looks doesn't matter to me, I love them with all of my heart! I'm missing them to much... I run towards them and give them real warm welcoming hugs and kisses. Deep down in my heart, I want my old good looking parents back! Not these aliens please.......

My life would definitely be different after this! My friends will sure mocking me for having a couple of aliens. Wait! Should I call the one who mocking my parents as friends? I dont really think so. Come on, since when Fatin is the one who really cares about others perception?

I cannot go out and shopping at the mall like usual. Not anymore..... I do not want them to feel uneasy with that glance and stare from strangers. Em maybe some of you will suggest me to make my parents more popular as they are aliens and have some superpower, right? But, no! I won't share my parents with someone else. My parents are mine. Yeah sure, sharing is caring but not on this matter! Sorry, sharing is annoying for me.

After this, I have to polish my cooking skills with some aliens food. What do aliens actually eat? Batteries? Dead animals? Plants? No worries mom and dad, I will cook everything for you. Just name it what do you want. Do not afraid, aliens are not going to be fat. Hahahaha but, don't you think it is cute when an alien is fat?

Wait, how about their custom? Can't they change to some beautiful elegant dress up like before? A red dress for my mom and white tuxedo for my dad would be nice. But with this special characteristic they have right now, how........ I need to find someone that can be trusted to customize new clothes for them! Yeay new beautiful clothes for mom and dad! Could not wait for that.

Superpower. My parents have superpower. I just could not believe this. Before, I only watch Thor that have their own ax, Hulk that turn green and become stronger when he is angry. Now my parents also got their own superpower? Majestic! Step forward my allies, I will ask my parents to smack you down. I want some superpower too... Maybe my parents could give me some of the superpower? Or teach me how? I promise I won't use it for my own benefits. Hm.

After a month living on Earth, my parents should be bored stuck in house. So why not I follow them to their planets? Awesome! I want to visit their place too. Get some new friends there. Know their lifestyle. Know how they communicate with one another, how they survive living in the planet that have no human like me. It would be an interesting vacation to planet! None of my friends have being there. Im going to be the first one.

Having a couple of parents that is alien are not that bad. Just enjoy your every single with your parents even how ugly, unique and bad they are. Love your parents and treat them with loving care. You will only know their value when you see their empty chair. Your parents may not be perfect but they are the most precious gift from God has ever given to you. Proud to say, I love mom and dad so much even though they are aliens :)

The new me.

Hello everyone! Since this is my first post in this blogging world, i would like to appreciate you guys for reading this. Thank you guys! *hugs*

Turning point in my life? Well, I guess everyone has their own kind of turning over a new leaf. So do me. Actually since I was a young little cute kid, I am the one that having fun with my life. I do enjoy in everything i did. Honestly, I still remember when I was Form 4, I was super lazy to do any homework that teachers gave them to me because I enjoy my life living easy and happy all the time. One fine day, I listened to a talk. A motivation talk. Later on I realized that there is no shortcut to success. I need to work hard in order to achieve success. But it was already at eleventh hour! Final examination was just around the corner. Somehow, I did not gave up. As for me, someone who gave up before the war is a coward. Totally a loser. Praises to Allah, even though it was a last minute study but I managed to get Top 20 which mean that I will be placed in the first class next year (Form 5).

The first class of form 5 students in my school is 5 Irsyad. The first time I entered that class, I was quite upset since there is none of my best buddies. One word of my first impression of my classmates is NERD. Through out  the year being with them, it was not that bad. As saying goes, do not judge a book by its cover. In this context, what I mean is do not simply judge person by their first appearance. I was having fun along the year with my classmates. They were so nice and kind. They will help me if I do not understand something. I was so grateful to be in that class. Time flied so fast and finally the day of fear – SPM examination day came. Everybody was very nerve-wrecking. Butterflies flew in everybody’s stomach. Paper by paper, we faced them calmly. For me, I really satisfied with what I answered during the whole examination week. Have faith in Allah. He will always be the best planner in our life. That is what I believed and told myself every single day.

After months of waiting the SPM result day, finally on 8th March the result will be announced. Everyone else might feel frightened of the upcoming result. But I did not feel that feeling, because I’ve done my best. If Allah wills, then I will get the flying colour result. If not, I am okay….. I still remember that moments when my childhood best friend called me “Hi, Fatin! I’ve already checked my result. Alhamdulillah, 8A+ 1A. What about you?” I already expect that she will get straight A’s but there is no luck on her to get 9A+. But it is okay, that was great enough! She asked me to check my result via SMS. I do so as her advice. Then, I got the reply. “Your result: 5A+ 4A 1A-“ Oh my god! I got straight A’s. My daddy gave me a warming hug. I cried on his shoulder. Thanks Allah for this beautiful life.

Okay, enough for that sweet memories. Memories will stay forever in our heart. Today, I am here. Secure a scholarship from Yayasan Terengganu and living as a TATIUC student to do our preparation programme. And again, time passed by too fast! I am already in my second semester. Do not ask me my semester 1 result, I do not even get it yet! However, new semester and of course new aim, new me. Aim high, fly high, isn’t it? Of course, every student will aim to get 4 flat. So do me. But, my personal determination is to be a better person day by day. Not only achieving success in this world, but also in the hereafter.

Till then, bye! Meet again in next entry :)
